While Accu-Crete prides itself on its construction work, the true differentiator for the company is the expertise we bring to the table before the work ever begins. Our ability to assist with plan coordination, RFIs and scheduling frequently make the projects on which we work run as smoother overall operations, with the benefits being enjoyed by all parties to the process.

While we are sometimes involved at the earliest stages of a project, Accu-Crete’s involvement most frequently begins when it receives a set of construction documents from the General Contractor on behalf of the Owner. At that point, we eliminate all of the data that is not relevant to the concrete portion of the job and extract all of the concrete-related documentation. An important element of what we do is to review the other (non-concrete) portions of the drawings , to understand fully how they impact our work and to work with the general contractor and other trades to establish a preconstruction schedule that makes sense for all and allows for maximum efficiency on the job. What is critical for us at this stage is getting deeply involved in the details of the drawings so that we can hone in on every aspect of the project that is relevant to the concrete work we have been engaged to perform.
From there, Accu-Crete will design a foundation based on our details and create a set of field drawings that will document what our proposed work will be. This drawing, however, is only of the concrete work to be done and does not include the related items that are obtained through our consultants. Our redesigned portions of the project are thoroughly coordinated with the other trades of the project to ensure compliance with the contract documents and to create a smoothly run project.
In that phase, our field drawings are sent out to our consultants and subcontractors who work in areas that support the concrete foundation work, such as post-tensioning, structural reinforcing steel and formwork experts whose additions to our drawing become an integral part of the package.
Upon receipt of our initial drawings back from the various consultants and subcontractors, we review the drawings and make any necessary changes to allow us to send our final drawings off to the architect and engineer of record for the job. All of the drawings are included together to create a set of “lift drawings” from which the project can actually be built.
Once all has been approved and permitted, the actual Concrete work can begin. In this phase, we perform all of the tasks necessary to construct the concrete elements, including minor excavation, grading, formwork, setting of reinforcing steel and pouring of the slabs.
During the process, we pride ourselves on our ability to coordinate well with other subcontractors who will undoubtedly be on the job at the same time and to collaborate with the general contractor to find the most efficient method of getting the work done on time and within budget.
Throughout the design-build process – from the time we get involved – we are seeking ways to improve the design and make the project stronger at lower cost. As described elsewhere, one of our hallmarks is the ability to creatively engineer and re-engineer a job to achieve the maximum result for our clients. In addition, to the extent we are involved in the creation of lift drawings on any project, whether design-build or design-bid-build, we are fully engaged in the effort of reducing the overall cost of the job and maximizing the profit to all participants.
